Fishermen's Bend, Vic. December 1942. A montage of photographs shows the conditions for female workers at the Department of Aircraft Production's Beaufort Division plants. The assembly plant is in full production with Beaufort Bombers being completed for delivery to the RAAF and RAF. The welfare of workers is taken into consideration within the Beaufort Division plants. Women work alongside men in these plants and facilities such as a canteen as well as a first aid room are provided. A nurse is also on hand to provide assistance if required. Staff are also provided with protective clothing such as overalls or dust coats. (AWM Military Technology Collection.)
