Brigadier Ron Hughes of Stafford Park, QLD, 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF) Commander, uses one of a battery of telephones in his command post to speak with his staff during Operation Coburg in Bien Hoa Province. In front of him, using a radio telephone is his operations officer Major David Smith of the Gap, Queensland. Sitting down is 235295 Captain Vince Thompson S03 Ops/ Liaison HQ 1ATF. Task force troops supported by armour of a squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment and artillery from 4th Field Regiment, were located twenty miles north-east of Saigon.
