Description

A blue sign painted on the Red Shield Defence Services (Salvation Army) 'Hop-In' wall, inside the theatre and lecture room at the Australian headquarters at Phnom Penh, known to the Cambodians as 'Pteah Australii'. The United Nations (UN) emblem is shown with an Australian kangaroo and a New Zealand kiwi on either side, 'The Anzac Two Kay Club' has been written above. From April 1992 the Australian Force Communications Unit (FCU) contingent of the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC), were based in Phnom Penh. Smaller contingents were scattered throughout Cambodia as communications support for all the other UNTAC military contingents, having established a communications network throughout Cambodia where none previously existed. The FCU was drawn from 75 different military units from within Australia and New Zealand.
