Description

An unidentified RAAF pilot of 77 Squadron, back to camera, trudges across a snow covered airstrip towards three Mustang P-51D aircraft in the distance. The Squadron was briefly based at K-27, an airfield previously used by the North Korean Air Force between Yongpo and Hamhung on the East coast of North Korea. Bad weather hampered operations in this snow bound region and the ground crews worked relentlessly in sub arctic conditions to keep the Mustangs airworthy.
