An informal portrait of 022058 Flying Officer R W (Dick) Wittman, a member of 77 Squadron RAAF serving in Korea. He stands against a stucco wall and the strong winter sunlight brings his clothing into sharp relief. As a concession to the cold weather, he is outfitted in US style military clothing including a fleecy lined pile cap and a cold weather jacket with a woollen scarf. Due to the shortage of winter clothing, Australians often informally adapted items of US clothing to supplement their own uniform outfit.
