Dili, East Timor. 14 November 1999. Major Rowan Martin, Second in Command standing in the well of an M113A1 Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) of 5th/7th Battalion (Mechanised), The Royal Australian Regiment (5/7RAR), part of the International Force for East Timor (Interfet), as it drives past burnt out buildings in Dili. There is a small Timorese child waving to the soldiers on the APC as they pass a makeshift roadside stall.
