Description

Collection relating to the First World War service of 2204 Private John Inglis Smith, of the 6th Reinforcements to the 15th Battalion. Includes letters by Pte Smith to family members, en route to and at Gallipoli, 1915; letters and notes by other soldiers writing to Pte Smith's family, expressing condolences for his death in action at Hill 971, Gallipoli. Other items in the collection include obituary notices, a memorial certificate and a photograph of Pte Smith in uniform.
