Original diary written in 1900 by 262 Private John Hugh Davies whilst serving with the 2nd Victorian Contingent, Victorian Mounted Rifles, in the war in South Africa (Boer War). Also includes an illustrated spiral bound typed transcript of the diary, compiled by Eileen Davies and Sheila Davies in 2000.
