Associated with Quarter Master Honorary Captain Stanley Thomas Parkes, 3 Light Horse Field Ambulance. He enlisted on 3 October 1914 and returned to Australia on 8 March 1919. Parkes served at Gallipoli and later in Palestine and Egypt. He was commissioned in the field and was Mentioned in Despatches in 1916.
