80th Anniversary Armistice Remembrance Medal : Albert Tull
80th Anniversary Armistice Remembrance Medal. Impressed around the edge with the recipient's details. The medal is contained in its original presentation case along with its miniature and ribbon bar.
To commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Armistice of the First World War the Prime Minister John Howard announced he would recommend a commemorative medal to The Queen on Remembrance Day 11 November 1998 to be issued to all remaining First World War Veterans. This example was presented to the family of Albert Tull. Tull passed away on 19 November 1998 aged 102 years. He had served with 3 Battalion, 1 Division, AIF as a private with the service number 3492.
Tull was born at Stroud, NSW, on 20 September 1896 and enlisted at West Maitland, NSW on 20 March 1916. He embarked for overseas service aboard HMAT Beltana on 25 November, arriving in England on 29 January 1917. After a period of training Tull proceeded overseas to France at the end of August and was taken on strength by 3 Battalion on 11 September. Apart from two weeks leave to England in September 1918, Tull remained in France until the end of the war. He returned to Australia on 13 July 1919, disembarking in Sydney on 2 September.
