Description
Sanitary service - draining a swamp in the Jordan valley. The treatment of the Jordan Valley was one of the leading examples of the sanitation, that was vital in all theatres of war. Under the direction of the medical service the swamps along the Jordan, which were infested with the malaria-carrying mosquito, were drained into the River Jordan. It was probably due to this work that the force was not incapacitated by malaria.
