Collection of personal and service related records of Lieutenant Colonel R W J Newton, MBE ED, Commanding Officer of 'U' Battalion, Don Force and the 2/19 Battalion. Items in the collection include records relating to officers and enlisted men of 'U' Battalion and the 2/19 Battalion who were Japanese Prisoners of War in Burma, Thailand and Japan. These include nominal rolls of killed, wounded and missing; lists of unit members who survived the war and a photograph of memorial plaque for 2/19th Battalion - Burma Railway. Collection also includes post-war correspondence including letters exchanged between Newton and Sir Edward 'Weary' Dunlop; the embarkation roll of the 2/19 Battalion and other related papers of the 2/19 Battalion Association.
