Description
The D.H.5 aircraft in which Lieutenant MacDonald of the 68th Australian Squadron (No. 2 Australian Flying Corps (AFC)), crashed out of control near Baizieux, on 6 December 1917. When withdrawn from the machine, Lieutenant MacDonald was unconscious, but two hours later was able to report for duty. Note the serial No. A954? "Z". Identified, left to right: Air Mechanic First Class (1/AM) H. S. Raphael; Corporal L. Dunnet; 1/AM H. J. Cullen; unidentified (partially obscured); 1/AM C. H. Peter; 1/AM E. Mayman. This machine was probably flown by Lieutenant R. W. McKenzie and was shot down landing at Fremicourt.
