Description

An Australian soldier standing next to a chalk monument which was erected by the men of the New York Division in memory of their fallen comrades. The plaque on the monument reads 'DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF THE SOLDIERS OF THE 27TH DIV USA NEW YORK DIVISION WHO FELL IN THE BATTLE FOR THE HINDENBURG LINE SEPT 27-30TH 1918'. This is a temporary structure and it is proposed to be replaced by something better later on.
