Description
A group of 12 unidentified German engineers preparing mines in a French village before they began withdrawing to the Hindenburg Line in early spring 1917. Note the ruinous state of the buildings. The photograph was taken from a German prisoner captured during the fighting at Bullecourt on 11 April 1917.
