Description

A photograph taken from a position in the Hindenburg Front Line System, known as the Knoll, situated near Vendhuille. This was taken looking towards Bony, a fortified town in the Hindenburg System, against which the 27th American Division made an assault on 29 September 1918. The Australian troops of the 3rd Division taking up the attack the same day, mopped up the area and the following day took the village after a fierce struggle.
