Description

Studio portrait of 367 Private (Pte) Victor Ellis, 5th Battalion. An irondresser from South Yarra, Vic prior to enlistment, Pte Ellis embarked with E Company from Melbourne on 21 October 1914 on HMAT Orvieto. On 5 September 1915 he was evacuated from Gallipoli suffering from dysentery and died at sea on 11 September 1915. On 13 September 1915 he was buried in Malta at the Pieta Military Cemetery.
