Collection relating to the First World War service of 1787 Lieutenant Walde Gerard Fisher, 42 Battalion. Collections consists of a typescript of Fisher's 1917 diary, typed by the Australian War Memorial. Added to the collection in 2015 is a typed manuscript prepared by Fisher's family comprising a typescript of three of Fisher's diaries covering August 1916 to October1917. A forth diary was sent home in 1918, but lost when the ship it was on was lost off the coast of England. The diaries contain regular short entries describing daily activities and engagement with the Germans; mostly personal observations regarding his surroundings and propagation of the war. The manuscript has been supplemented with additional information.
