Description
Two unidentified soldiers standing in front of a Maori carving in a main sap (deep, narrow trench leading to a besieged area) in the trench system on the Gallipoli Peninsula. Beside the main carving of a face is a small carving of a fist with its index finger pointing to the incription, which reads, 'NZ Maori.PAH.' See also C01158, which looks down the trench over the right hand soldier's left shoulder.
