Collection relating to the Second World War service of 122183 Leading Aircraftman George Henry Perkins, 14 Operational Base Unit, Australia, 1943-1946.

Wallet 1 of 3 - Consists of four notebooks containing detailed notes, procedures and calculations on vehicle and motor maintenance, diesel engines, electricty and electromagnetic fields. One notebook also includes humorous sketches and caricatures of personnel in Perkins' unit.

Wallet 2 of 3 - Contains three further notebooks, which include detailed notes, diagrams and calculations on diesel engines, vehicle maintenance, and general mechanics, as well as notes on log book records. The notebooks contain occasional unrelated sketches.

Wallet 3 of 3 - Consists of two sketch books, containing dozens of sketches made by Perkins during his service with the RAAF during the Second World War. The sketches are often humorous and focused on military service and life in the RAAF. Other subjects include scenery, the camp and surrounds at Melville Bay in the Northern Territory, troop ships, caricatures of wartime leaders (such as Winston Churchill, Franklin Roosevelt, Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler) and other RAAF personnel, aerial operations, and the sinking of HMS Jervis Bay.
