Hannaford, Hector Roy DFC (Flight Lieutenant RAF, b.1917 - d.1945)
Description
Collection relating to the RAF Second World War service of Flight Lieutenant Hector Roy Hannaford, DFC. Collection consists of a small 1930 diary; flying logbook for operations with fighter aircraft in the Mediterranean Area before conversion to bomber training; copy of birth certificate; copy of death on war service; acknowledgement of mothers' and widows' badge with envelope; newsclipping re 45 SA men in casualty lists; ACF envelope; British Forces identification card; postcard of Capri; postcard of Dionysius's Ear written to parents in 1943; and a poem "My son, my son" by Grace Pollard. Hannaford was killed in a non-operational accident in March 1945.
