Description
Collection relating to the Second World War service of QX6157 Captain Duncan McFarland Russell, 2/2nd Field Ambulance, 2/4th Infantry, Battalion, 19th Infantry Brigade, Crete, 1941. Collection consists of a number of handwritten accounts relating to Russell's experiences at Tobruk, Derna, Benghazi, Greece and Crete. As Captain Russell was the Brigade Transport Officer, the accounts strongly focus on motor transport. Also included is a humerous award relating to the Mess of No 1 AASC Training Battalion; and other mixed and incomplete writings on other topics such as buying war service homes. See also MSS0745.
