Urquhart, K McK (Commander, RAN, HMAS Napier)
'Technical Report on Japanese Midget Submarines', prepared by Commander Urquhart and dated July 1942. This important work is based on information obtained from the investigations into two Japanese submarines (Numbers 14 and 21) which entered Sydney Harbour on the night of 31 May 1942. Both vessels suffered damage which rendered them inoperative and they were subsequently recovered. Report provides detailed analysis of components, equipment and is complete with drawings and photographs. Also included in collection is a certificate presented to Commander Urquhart by Task Force 37 (British Pacific Fleet) commemorating HMAS Napier's participation in the entry of Allied units into Tokyo Bay for the unconditional surrender of the Japanese Navy on 30 August 1945.
