2083 Private Charles George Ruggles, 5 Battalion, AIF, who on 25 July 1916 was killed in a bomb fight at Pozieres. Other biographical details concerning him are: farmer of Camperdown, Victoria; born Elstree, Herts, England; educated at St. Olave's and St. Saviour's Grammar School, London; became a gas engineer; served with the Bedfordshire Yeomanry; left for Australia when 21 years old; joined the AIF on 3 March 1915; age at time of death, 26.
