Studio portrait of 2284 Corporal (Cpl) Reginald Morgan MM, 19th Battalion, originally of Devon, England. Cpl Morgan came to Australia at 25, and was a salesman and musician prior to his enlistment in Sydney on 15 July 1915. He was awarded the Military Medal (MM) for gallantry and devotion to duty at Pozieres during the period 25 July to 5 August 1916. He died of wounds on 25 November 1916, possibly received at Flers, France where during a battle he was trapped with another soldier where they both lay injured for five days in a shell hole which stretcher bearers could not reach. This portrait is one of a number displayed on a photo montage Honour Board made for the department store Anthony Hordern and Sons Ltd, Sydney by the returned soldier and sailor employees of the company. It commemorated 46 of the company's 48 employees who died as a result of their service in the First World War.
