Description
Collection relating to the Second World War of NX8691 Lieutenant Jack Sidney Whittle, 2/1st Infantry Battalion, prisoner of war in Germany. Collection consists of two notebooks containing handwritten training notes (one includes French words and phrases), as well as two photograph wallets containing photographs taken during Whittle's early service in the Middle East. Also included are Whittle's demobilization procedures book, soldier's pay book, soldiers's record of service book, and member's personal equipment card. All this material relates to Whittle's service before he was captured on Crete and became a prisoner of war.
