Description
A blue triangular car pennant with white fabric appliqued number '27' in white.
History / Summary
This 27th Brigade Head Quarters pennant was flown from the centre of the bonnet of Brigadier Duncan Struan Maxwell's car when he was driven on the Malay Peninsula and in Singapore by NX68355 Private George Allan 'Allan' Horsburgh or NX58441 Lance Corporal Brabazon Clarence 'Brad' Badgery in his 1938 or 1939 Chevrolet.
All three were captured by the Japanese in February 1942. Horsburgh kept the pennant through his captivity. Badgery died of illness on the Thai Burma Railway on 9 July 1943. Maxwell and Horsburgh survived the war.
