Shoulder title: AFC - Aircraft Mechanic 2 A R McDougall, Australian Flying Corps
Brass shoulder title of the Australian Flying Corps. The badge is made up of the voided letters 'AFC' joined together between two parallel bars. Two ring lugs are attached to the reverse of the title.
Associated with 2183 2 Aircraft Mechanic Albert R McDougall. McDougall was a coppersmith by trade and enlisted in the Australian Flying Corps on 28 May 1917. He embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Aeneas on 30 October as a member of the 13th July Reinforcements. He arrived in Devonport on 27 December. McDougall was then taken on strength at the Australian Flying Corps Training Depot at Wendover as a 2 Aircraft Mechanic until 16 April 1918. on 17 April he transferred to Aeroplane Repair Section, 1st Wing, AFC. He returned to Australia aboard the Kaiser-i-Hind on 6 May 1919 and was formally discharged from the AIF on 9 July.
