Description

Slouch hat complete with khaki cotton puggaree, brown leather chinstrap and copper Rising Sun badge. The puggaree has a 1945 pattern Australian Army Medical Corps unit patch sewn to it. The leather sweatband is impressed 'V.553, 7, 1943'. The hat has some moth grazing and a few minor holes. The chinstrap is damaged.

Slouch hat worn by worn by VX503203 Private Arthur Blair Titter, born Ballarat, Victoria on 31 March 1927, enlisted for service in the Second World War on 17 March 1941. He later served in Japan with the British Commonwealth Occupation Forces (BCOF) as a carpenter with 130 Australian General Hospital, Japan. Details of his Second World War service are unknown.
