Description

This British Second World War poster depicts an illustrated map of the United Kingdom and north-western Europe - particularly France, Germany, and a few other, smaller occupied countries.

The poster depicts all the different factories and resources and where they originate from in the United Kingdom, as well as references to other resources being brought in from America, Canada and other parts of the British Commonwealth. For example, a coal mine is seen in Wales, cows in Scotland, tanks in Midlands and guns in the North West. On the Continent, however, are illustrations marking where Axis targets have been hit and where resources are being sent. For example, much of Germany between Cologne and Bremen are covered with fire owing to incendiary bombing; near the Franco-German border bridges have been destroyed; and off the west coast of France, there have been submarines sunk, and small-scale Allied landings.

The overall map spans from Ireland to Danzig, and from the Penines to Munich, with a small inset featuring certain Italian targets.

Versions of this poster were also published in French, Italian, Arabic, and Persian.
