Description

Original diary compiled in a W/T Operator's Log book by Signalman John Hugh Wesley detailing his service on the Infantry Landing Ship HMAS Kanimbla from 3 August 1943 to 4 March 1945. Good detailed account of day to day activities and notable entries for major operations in which the Kanimbla was involved, including the landings at Tanahmera (April 1944), Sarmi and Wadke Islands (June 1944), Morotai (September 1944), Leyte (October 1944) and Lingayen (January 1945). Diary contains congratulatory messages from Task Force Commanders and some newspaper clippings, dated 1943 to 1945. Collection also includes a printed illustrated transcript of the diary titled 'John Wesley's War Diary 1943 to 1945', published in 2001.
