Australian Comforts Fund: Some views of the activities of the fund in New Guinea
Description
Depicts sepia toned photographs of various services provided by the Australian Comforts Fund. In the top right corner, a hostel is shown where troops are given free beverages. In the bottom left corner, men are 'mopping up' the rest of a can of tinned fruit. The A.C.F., formed in January 1940, worked in conjunction with the Salvation Army, the Y.M.C.A. and the Y.W.C.A. Its 'comforts' ranged from hostels, clubs, Christmas hampers, embarkation kits, film screenings and canteens in Australian towns, Jerusalem, Alexandria and Singapore and elsewhere.
