Description

Studio portrait of 4497 Private (Pte) Arthur Farnell, 14th Reinforcements, 12th Battalion, of Middleton, Tas (seated) and 4582 Pte Harold Ernest Edmond Smith, 14th Reinforcements, 12th Battalion, of Ferntree, Tas (standing). Pte Farnell enlisted on 24 November 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Warilda in Melbourne on 8 February 1916. On 19 April 1916 he transferred to the 52nd Battalion. He returned to Australia as a member of the 51st Battalion on 6 September 1919. Pte Smith enlisted on 22 November 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Warilda in Melbourne on the same day. On 19 April 1916 he also transferred to the 52nd Battalion. He returned to Australia on 16 March 1919.
