Hanson, Henry (Chief Petty Officer)
Copies of diaries, papers and memoirs written by Chief Petty Officer Telegraphist Henry Hanson relating to his service on RAN and Royal Navy ships during 1941-1945, together with later comments on post-War service to 1952. CPO Hanson served on the cruiser HMAS Hobart (1941-42) and the destroyers HMAS Nizam (1942-43), HMAS Quickmatch (1943-44) and HMAS Bataan (1945); and briefly in two British battleships, HMS Warspite (1942) and HMS Resolution (1943). The detailed diaries and memoirs provide good detailed accounts of his service in the Mediterranean, in Singapore, Netherlands East Indies and the western Indian Ocean. Also more summary accounts of his service in the Philippines and Japan in 1945.
