History / Summary

Awarded to 1374 Private John Andrew Wilberforce (Will) Ody. He was born at Mimmi, NSW and was educated in Newcastle before moving to Manly, NSW. He trained as an assistant surveyor and worked as clerk in a coal mining operation. On enlistment he was employed as a boundary rider. He enlisted on 2 December 1914 and served with 15 Battalion, AIF. He was killed in action at Lone Pine, Gallipoli, on 9 August 1915 at the age of 27.
