Description

Photocopy of a Second World War service memoir titled 'War Years' (18 pp) written by former NX69816 Staff Sergeant Donald John Skinner. Covers his enlistment, training with 2/1 Pioneer Battalion, voyage to Middle East and duties in Egypt and Palestine; records also his transfer to the Military Police and attendance at the Provost School. Includes details of his return voyage to Australia, MP duties at Cowra with Italian POWs and later service in the 8th Lines of Communications Provost Company in the Sydney area, including duties as Staff Sergeant at Bourke Street Barracks. An idiosyncratic record of service with some amusing insights into the duties of Miltary Policemen.
