Don Funston
Description
Garvey's cartoon portrait of Don Funston, from a series of thirty-six pencil drawings made in Syria, Palestine and Lebanon in 1942 of members of 15 Platoon 'C' Company, 2/32 Battalion, Lebanon 1942. Funston is seen in left profile wearing uniform without a hat, smoking a cigarette, left hand in pocket. Donald McLean Funston was born in Brighton, Victoria, date unknown. He enlisted at Caulfield, Victoria on 26 June 1940. He served as a Corporal in the Army, service number VX29764. He was a prisoner of war; discharged on 12 July 1945.
