Description
Studio portrait probably of 2282 Private (Pte) Alfred Ernest Smith, 4th Reinforcements, 26th Battalion, of Melbourne, Vic (originally of Woolwich Arsenal, London, England). Pte Smith enlisted on 26 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Hororata on 27 September 1915. He returned to Australia on 8 April 1919.
