Men of the Royal Australian Naval Bridging Train (RANBT) inspecting pontoons on wagons parked in the Domain Park Camp. The pontoons were made in the workshops at Cockatoo Island, Sydney, for the 1st Royal Australian naval Bridging Train (1RANBT). 1RANBT was originally bound for England but was diverted to the Dardanells and assigned to support the the British Army landings at Suvla Bay in August 1915. The 1RANBT landed at Suvla Bay on 7 August 1915 and the 50 pontoons carried from Australia were used to good effect.
