South Vietnam. 1969-01-21. With a brief exchange at Fire Support Base Julia, Commander, 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF), Brigadier (Brig) C. M. T. Pearson of Canberra, ACT (left), and the Commanding Officer of the 2nd Army of the Republic of Vietnam Airborne Brigade, Colonel (Col) Tran Van Lich, marked the two countries co-operation in a joint drive against the Viet Cong during Operation Goodwood. Brig Pearson presented Colonel Lich with a plaque (not in photograph) and he reciprocated with an inscribed baton.
