Phuoc Tuy Province, South Vietnam. 1969-04-18. Armed with an M16 automatic rifle and carrying a radio, Private Peter Aylward of Warwick, Qld, a signaller with C Company, 9th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (9RAR), patrols through high reeds on Operation Surfside, a reconnaissance-in-force, in the south east corner of the province.
