Description

Phuoc Tuy Province, South Vietnam. 1969-04. Three young Vietnamese children (apprentice carpenters) give Sapper Brian Forbes of Uranga, NSW, a helping hand to repair one of the many bridges along Route 23. The engineers of 1st Field Squadron, Royal Australian Engineers (RAE), are repairing bridges and culverts along the road so that the villagers of Xuyen Moc can transport their produce to the markets of Dat Do and Baria during the wet season.
