Three Australian Rules footballers stretch for the ball bounced by the Chief of Staff of the Australian Headquarters in Vietnam, Colonel Alan B. Stretton of Canberra, ACT. The soldiers are, from left: Private Jim McMillan of Preston, Vic; Second Lieutenant Ray Harvey of Box Hill, Vic; Corporal John Patterson of Novar Gardens, SA. Col Stretton, a former ruckman for St Kilda, started the match between the two teams from HQ Australian Forces in Vietnam (AFV) known as the "Diggers" (privates) and "The Rest" (officers and NCOs).
