Vung Tau, South Vietnam. 1969-09. The boatman of Vung Tau, Sergeant (Sgt) Ray Smith of Woolwich, NSW, drives along his territory, the beach fronting the 1st Australian Logistic Support Group (1ALSG) base. In his specially adapted 'sand-rover', he checks on sailing boat no. 223, under his care.
