Informal portrait of 1/122 Major (Maj) Keith John O'Neill (left), of Toowoomba, Qld, A Company, 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR) and 3/314 Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) William John Morrow, OBE, (right), of Canberra, ACT, looking at a map, as they discuss Operation Bamboo at the tactical command post at Grik, Northern Malaya. Operation Bamboo is the latest drive against the estimated 80 Communist terrorists remaining in the state of Perak. Maj O'Neill previously served in Korea as a captain with 2nd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (2RAR), between 1952 and 1953 and later in South Vietnam as a lieutenant colonel with 8th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (8RAR), during 1967. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) on 24 June 1971. Lt Col Morrow also served in Korea as a major with 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR) between 1953 and 1954 and with Headquarters, 28th British Commonwealth Infantry Brigade later in 1953. He was awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) on 26 May 1953.
