Description
Studio portrait of 1691 Private (Pte) William Campbell, 2nd Reinforcements, 23rd Battalion, of Ballarat East, Vic, aged seventeen. Pte Campbell enlisted on 17 May 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Demosthenes on 16 July 1915. He was killed in action on 5 August 1916 at Pozieres, France, aged eighteen, while serving as a Lance Corporal with the 22nd Battalion.
