Description
Studio portrait of 1972 Acting Corporal (A/Cpl) George David Pollington, 3rd Reinforcements, 24th Battalion, of Clunes, Vic. A/Cpl Pollington enlisted on 17 June 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Anchises on 26 August 1915. After being promoted to a sergeant he was awarded the Military Medal (MM) on 21 October 1916 and while acting as a temporary captain was awarded the Military Cross (MC) on 2 April 1919. He returned to Australia on 25 January 1919 as a second lieutenant.
