Description
Studio portrait of 2436 Private (Pte) William Thirlwell, 5th Reinforcements, 22nd Battalion, of Williamstown, Vic. Pte Thirlwell enlisted on 12 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Osterley on 29 September 1915. He returned to Australia on 13 April 1919 as a member of the 2nd Pioneer Battalion.
