Description
Studio portrait of 2732 Private (Pte) Gilbert James Knowles, 6th Reinforcements, 21st Battalion, of Melbourne, Vic (originally of Bath, England). Pte Knowles enlisted on 13 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Moldavia on 5 October 1915. He returned to Australia on 13 April 1919 with the 24th Battalion.
