Description
Studio portrait of 3171 Sergeant (Sgt) James Douglas Archer Collier, 10th Reinforcements, 15th Battalion, of Hobart, Tas. Sgt Collier enlisted on 27 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Port Lincoln on 16 October 1915. He was transferred to the 47th Battalion on 3 March 1916. Sgt Collier was captured on 12 October 1917 and interned at Reserve Lazarett 3 Barracks, in Lubeck, Germany. He was listed as missing in action on 13 October 1917. He was promoted to Lieutenant (Lt) on 15 August 1918 and repatriated at Denmark on 16 January 1919. Lt Collier arrived in England on 6 February 1919 and returned to Australia on 7 September 1919.
